Methodology

Every ranking on BestSiteFor follows the same baseline process, with category-specific criteria added on top.

Baseline criteria

  1. Direct relevance — the site must solve the exact problem described in the query, not a tangentially related one.
  2. Track record — the site must have been operating for long enough to assess reliability. Minimum thresholds vary by category.
  3. Reputation — independent user feedback from forums, communities, and reviews is consulted, not just the site's own marketing.
  4. Transparency — clear pricing, terms, ownership, and contact information.
  5. Accessibility — the site must be usable without dark patterns, deceptive flows, or hidden fees.

Category-specific criteria

Each page lists the criteria used for that specific ranking under the How we chose section. For example, a no-KYC crypto ranking weights non-custodial design and zero verification, while a learning platform ranking weights teaching quality, content depth, and pricing.

Review cycle

Pages are reviewed at least every 90 days. The date of last review is shown on every page.
